Advance competition 2008
11 August – 25 September
During the Advance Professional Development days a number of teachers expressed a desire to have greater access to information or stories on the different types of projects being undertaken in Advance. There was also an indication that many schools were already collecting lots of digital images of their activities.
As a means of increasing the involvement of young people in telling their stories, and also making examples of what is currently being undertaken in Advance available to teachers and community organisations, we are excited to tell you about Advance’s new competition.
If you are a part of your school’s Advance class then this is a competition for you!
We want your Advance group to make a video, podcast, or digital story that is up to three minutes long, and tell us about what you have done in your community projects and your experience with the Advance program in your school.
You could win $500 to donate to your project’s community organisation, plus a $30 gift voucher for all students in your school’s Advance group, and have your entry showcased as part of a gallery with other highly commended entries on youthcentral.
All Advance co-ordinators should have received a competition information kit. If you are yet to receive yours, or have any questions, please contact the Advance team on (03) 9208 3213.

Advance in 2008
Advance aims to encourage youth participation and youth development. To achieve these aims it is important that young people are involved in the decisions about the nature of the projects they are involved in and the community organisations they partner with. The Office for Youth encourages all participating schools to develop partnerships with a range of community organisations so as to meet the needs and interests of young people in the Advance class.
The Advance Team at the Office for Youth are here to provide you with any advice or assistance about delivering the Advance program. Please don’t hesitate to contact us via email at advance@dpcd.vic.gov.au or by telephoning (03) 9208 3213.
