Body image online survey


Reach Out and The Butterfly Foundation want to find out what young people think about body image and eating issues. The results of the survey will be used to shape recommendations to the government on how eating disorders in young people can best be prevented and treated.

Young people upto 25 years are encouraged to fill out the National Eating Disorders Collaboration Youth Survey.

New resource to tackle cyber bullying


Mr Merlino, Minister for Youth Affairs, has announced a new Cyber Safety section and video on youthcentral, the Victorian Government’s website for young people, to provide up to date information and tips on being safe while using new technologies. Visit the youthcentral cyber bullying video.

Face the Music


Victorian Government sponsored annual music industry conference FACE THE MUSIC returns for its sophomore year - Saturday 31 October, 2009 at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Real life doesn’t need retouching


Forming part of the Positive Body Image Strategy, the ‘Real life doesn’t need retouching’ ad aims to raise awareness among young people about the use of digital manipulation to images of so called ‘perfect bodies’ on TV, billboards and in magazines.The ‘Real life doesn’t need retouching’ ad is appearing on MySpace, youthcentral and the Premier’s website.

Future Directions: An action agenda for young people


The Victorian Government’s youth agenda, Future Directions, reflects the broad range of activity going on across government for young Victorians aged 12 to 25. It brings together five specific desired outcomes that the community, young people and their families have endorsed as priorities. The Government’s role is to provide options and services for young people, as well as ensuring their rights are respected and they have real opportunities to build meaningful careers and lives.
